Festival hosts in the starting blocks
Hofer Volksfest 2025
The biggest and most beautiful festival in the region opens its doors on 25 July.
Market master Uwe Voigt announces: A pint of beer will cost €11.80. Gerhard Böckl and Josef Ebnet will once again be the festival hosts, inviting guests to the marquee and the catered and partially covered Volksfest garden in front of Neuhof railway station. Festbetriebe Böckl GbR has been organising folk festivals throughout Bavaria since 1975.
The large marquee will once again be located on the station grounds, while Nailaer Straße will once again become a popular beer garden. Beer from the Meinel brewery will be served in the tent and beer from the Scherdel brewery in the beer garden.
Good news for all those who want to secure a place in the marquee on certain days: Reservations are now possible at www.festbetriebe-boeckl.de/programm/reservierung. There is also an advance sale for beer tokens, which can also be ordered via this link.
Highlights
Parade and opening
The big parade on Friday, 25 July, marks the start of the ten-day festival on the Volksfestplatz on Nailaer Straße. Around 3,600 participants in 63 groups will parade through the city centre to the festival site accompanied by music. As usual, the parade starts at 17:00 at Hof town hall.
The parade route this year leads via: Rathaus - Ludwigstraße - Oberes Tor - Altstadt - Luitpoldstraße - Marienstraße - Konrad-Adenauer-Platz - Schützenstraße - Kulmbacher Straße - main entrance Volksfestplatz - across the festival grounds to the beer garden.
At the head of the procession: Lord Mayor Eva Döhla, representatives of the city council, members of parliament, mayors, the festival hosts and representatives of the participating breweries. Many guests of honour from the city and district are also expected - including numerous delegations from the Hof municipalities, with which 35 years of partnership are being celebrated this year.
The procession will be accompanied by four bands, the Fahnengarde Vogtland e. V. and - for the first time in Hof - the Trachtenmusikanten from Hof near Salzburg. Shortly before the finish, the Dixieland Six Jazz Band will provide a lively musical finale as the parade enters the festival grounds. The Hof Volksfest is officially opened in the marquee with the tapping of the beer by Mayor Eva Döhla. This year's speciality: the beer is tapped together with Meinel-Bräu, whose beer is served in the tent. Beforehand, the traditional band from Hof bei Salzburg plays a festive concert in the marquee.
Prizes for the best parade entries
In 2025, the ProHof e. V. association will once again honour particularly successful parade entries. Whether it's a traditional costume group, kindergarten, sports club or marching band - every original idea counts. A jury consisting of Mayor Eva Döhla, ProHof Chairman Volker Reinstorf and Head of the Cultural Office Peter Nürmberger will decide on site who will amaze, amuse or applaud the spectators.
Fireworks and church service
On Saturday, 26 July, the festival will kick off with an opening firework display. On Sunday, 27 July, the marquee service will take place at 11:30 a.m., followed by a morning pint. At the same time, there will be the popular breakfast in the Ferris wheel in co-operation with Radio Euroherz.
The traditional theme days
Monday 28 July is traditionally the Hospital Foundation's Generation Day. Senior citizens can spend pleasant hours in the marquee or beer garden at reduced prices. Wednesday 30 July is Family Afternoon, when heavily discounted prices are offered throughout the festival grounds, and Clubs' Day. Thursday, 31 July, is dedicated to businesses. Many bosses use this day to invite their employees and celebrate together.
Fireworks and finale
The festival will be crowned on Friday, 1 August, with a spectacular firework display that will bathe the Hof sky in bright colours. On the last day, Sunday 3 August, the procession of the waiters and waitresses will parade across the entire Volksfestplatz, accompanied by atmospheric music. A highlight not to be missed!

There is a risk of getting lost in the Glaswerk glass maze. The labyrinth consists of over 100 mirrors and panes of glass. Once you've made it through, you can't be sure that the same path will lead you back to your destination, as the wrong turns are constantly changing. Fun for the whole family is guaranteed here.
Children's rides
For the children, there is a varied programme that will make their hearts beat faster. The well-known children's carousel is back, as is the children's loop. In the Jumbo Jet, the little ones can control the ride themselves and go up and down as they please. A wild slide can be experienced on the almost 35 metre long and 13 metre high "Euro slide". Beach walking requires full physical exertion to run across the water with the giant balls. From duck fishing to the historic horse carousel - there is something for every child here.

Feasting at the folk festival
If you are looking for culinary delights, you are guaranteed to find them at the Hofer Volksfest:
- Roast sausages, steaks, fish sandwiches, fried fish - the classics
- International cuisine with pizza, crêpes, baguettes, langos, churros
- New: freshly prepared pasta from the Parmesan loaf
- Vegetarian? Mais-Man, Schwammerl-Express and many others offer meat-free alternatives
For those with a sweet tooth, there are chocolate fruits, roasted almonds, gingerbread hearts, slush ice and handmade ice creams. Hofer beer, wines from the Hoffmann winery, the Green Bar and Heidi's Volksfesttreff await thirsty guests at the drinks stands and bars.
Safety at the Hofer Volksfest
How to get there
If you would like to visit the Hof Volksfest, there are various ways to get to the festival grounds:
Car: In the immediate vicinity of the Volksfestplatz, car parks are available in Schützenweg for a small fee.
Volksfest bus: The HofVerkehr Volksfest bus is a very good option. The route maps and bus stops can be found in the download area below.
Train: Travelling by train is easy, Neuhof station is right next to the festival grounds. You can also use Park & Ride here by parking at the main station and taking the train to the festival or walking the last few metres to the festival from the large car park in Plauener Straße. Disabled parking spaces are available on the main access road to the festival site in Kulmbacher Straße.
Behaviour on the festival grounds
Bag checks: There will be no admission checks, but bags will be checked on the festival grounds and in the tent. This may happen several times. We ask for your understanding and recommend that you leave your bags at home if possible.
Cannabis consumption: This is not permitted anywhere on the festival grounds. Offenders will be banned from the site.
Prohibited items: Dangerous or prohibited items such as knives, weapons of all kinds, soft-air weapons and means of defence such as pepper spray will be confiscated. It is also not permitted to bring bottles of alcoholic beverages.
Expulsion and ban from the premises
Anyone who does not know how to behave at the festival or commits criminal offences must expect to be banned from the site and banned from the rest of the festival. We will not shy away from taking further steps such as reporting offences. Only authorised stands are allowed to offer goods and services; offenders will also be banned from the site.
Fireworks and road safety
Special traffic regulations will apply on the two fireworks days - Saturday 26 July and Friday 1 August:
- Ernst-Reuter-Straße and Dr.-Enders-Straße will be closed at short notice.
- Spectators are requested to keep the designated safety areas clear.
- Drone flights are not permitted in the safety area during the fireworks.
- Stopping is prohibited in Dr.-Enders-Straße on these days - offences can lead to vehicle damage and will be punished accordingly.
Vehicle barriers to protect the site
New this year: The city of Hof has procured vehicle-supported barriers to protect the grounds even better against possible approaching vehicles. These barriers are installed at the main entrances to the Volksfestplatz and make a significant contribution to the safety of all visitors.
