The A 2, BH, BS, BZ, C, FI, KP, MIK-S, N, O, UN and Z collections are located in our outside depository. To use and view them, you must make an appointment in advance at the Municipal Archives.

Archive tours:
Guided tours of the city archives and its storeroom can be organized for smaller groups. For this purpose, advance booking is requested.
Newspaper copies:
For anniversaries, birthdays and similar occasions, copies in DIN A 3 format can be made of the filmed daily newspapers from Hof and the surrounding area. A fee of 5 € per page is charged. Newspaper holders made of wood for 13,00 € or insert folders for 8,00 € are also available in the city archive.

Prints of maps, plans and city views:
The City Archives has scanned a small assortment of old maps, city plans and city views for you. You can purchase photographic prints of these.

Reproductions:
Reproductions can be made (within the limits of applicable laws) of items stored in the Hof City Archives.

A vivid look into the past
The following documents can be consulted in the municipal archives:
- a specialized library (archive/presence library) on local history with about 10,000 titles as well as numerous series of periodicals on local history and natural history -> Bibliotheks-Verbund Bayern.
- the former council library with almost 2,300 valuable volumes from the 15th to the 18th century. Its works can be searched for in the catalog of the Library Network of Bav aria.
- the Hof newspapers since 1783
- a collection of newspaper clippings and curricula vitae
- documents of the Middle Ages and early modern times
- records of the Hof city administration since the 17th century
- bequests of individuals, companies and associations
- Minutes of the city council and its committees since 1818
- Budgets and accounts of the city of Hof and the foundations it administers since the 16th century
- family sheets and residents' registration cards since 1876
- an extensive photo archive
- maps, plans, posters and pamphlets
- numerous other collections (including audio tapes, films, seals, etc.)

The use of the City Archives is free of charge. Fees are only charged for written requests for family research and for special services such as photocopies or reproductions.
Associations, companies and private individuals can obtain advice on archiving their old records in the Hof Municipal Archives. It is also possible to deposit your documents in the city archive. If you have any questions regarding the storage of your historically valuable documents, the staff of the Hof Municipal Archives will be happy to assist you at any time.
