New water play area at Untreusee

The children's playground at Untreusee is now complete with the opening of the water play area. In addition to the already inaugurated pirate ship "Schwarze Perle" with the fictional pirate "Luna Sturmwelle" and the toddler area with sun protection, the water play area is now officially open to all young visitors.
It is another highlight at Untreusee: the facility was developed and built in-house in close collaboration with the company Wilo and under the project management of trainees. The system was designed to function reliably even when the water level of Lake Untreusee is low.
"With the playground, we are creating a place for families to meet and have fun at a high design and educational level. Play spaces are also living spaces and we have a good example here that investing in facilities for children is always worthwhile. Many thanks to everyone involved, from the children to the experts from the town hall and our committed partners from business and education," said Mayor Eva Döhla at the inauguration.
Playground with a concept and participation
A participatory process was carried out in advance with the involvement of children, local residents and in cooperation with the Hof Academy of Social Pedagogy. One of the key results was that the playground should have a maritime theme. This gave rise to the idea of a pirate ship.
The play area for small children right next to it fits in thematically with the pirate theme and is entitled "Dinghy for little pirates". A facility with a sand play area, seesaw, slide, balancing and climbing facilities was created at a cost of around 15,000 euros. Particular emphasis was placed on good sun protection, which was supported by Sparkasse Hochfranken with 13,000 euros.
"A lot of time, money and passion from various municipal departments has gone into the redesign of the two largest and most popular playgrounds, at the Bismarck Tower and Untreusee. It's a great feeling to be able to successfully complete these two projects," says Pascal Najuch-Schödel, Head of Municipal Youth Work at the City of Hof.
