World U21 Archery Championships

Fabio Alex is runner-up in the world championship

Several hours of training almost every day paid off for 19-year-old Fabio Alex from Hof when he and his two team-mates from the German national team, Noah Nuber and Ruven Flüß, competed in the Junior World Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada. It was an extremely close competition in which they were ahead for a long time. First the score was 233:233, then 29:29, but in the play-off just two millimetres decided the winner of the gold medal, with the arrow of the Indian national team closer to the centre.

Although the budding electrician, who is a member of ATSV 1959 e.V. Oberkotzau, had to admit defeat to the Indian national team, he nevertheless returned to Germany a few days ago with the silver medal, and rightly so, full of pride. His club organised a small reception for him on Tuesday evening, at which the mayor, Angela Bier, together with the head of the sports division, Dr Beier, and the mayor of Oberkotzau, Stefan Breuer, were on hand to offer their congratulations.

We congratulate the young talent and wish him continued success!
