Sport and recreation at Hof's favorite lake
Hofer Untreusee - known by locals as "U-See" for short - is one of Hof's and the region's visitor magnets at any time of year. In the colorful hustle and bustle of summer as well as on quiet winter days, it unfolds its very own magic. Built as a reservoir between 1976 and 1979, the Untreusee is now a meeting place for nature lovers, recreation seekers and sports enthusiasts. Experience nature, enjoy leisure time, do sport - take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life at our local lake.
Incidentally, the lake gets its "meaningful" name from the Untreubach stream that feeds it. Where it got its name from is entirely up to your imagination.
Time out by the lake
The Volksfest landlords have taken over from Grüners and reopened the popular restaurant at Untreusee in spring 2023.
Located directly on the shores of Hof's Untreusee lake, Die Wertschaft offers regional food and drinks in one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city of Hof. The Franconian restaurant has a snack bar and a cozy pub.
Even the classics are not neglected under the new management. The popular raspberry cake, for example, is still on the menu.
Activities in and around the lake
Whether swimming, surfing, sailing, rowing or kayaking - the Untreusee is a paradise for fans of the wet element. On an area of 600,000 square meters, you have the opportunity to indulge in your water sports hobby. The shore also offers a wide range of opportunities for relaxation and sporting activities. Unwind while sunbathing or take a walk, cycle or jog around the lake. For nature lovers, the biotope adjacent to the lake is a worthwhile destination. The little ones can let off steam at the lake playground.
The large leisure location Jump and Climb offers special experiences with a climbing park right by the lake, a labyrinth for the whole family, the Jumparea trampoline hall and much more. During a break in the lakeside inn, from where you can also take a leisurely pedal boat ride, or in the nearby hotel restaurant, you can enjoy the fantastic view. Close recreation in the truest sense of the word
Only a few kilometers from the center, the Untreusee can be reached in 15 minutes by car or public transport. Parking is available directly at the Untreusee parking lot and at the Schaumberggrund. If you are traveling by motor home, the Schaumberggrund also offers pretty parking spaces in the direct vicinity of the restaurant and lake. Or how about a little bike tour? From the city center along the idyllic Saale meadows, through meadows and the foothills of the city area, you can reach your destination in just 30 minutes.
