Promenade concerts 2025

Music pavilion at the Theresienstein

Since 1989, the city of Hof has been organizing the "Promenade Concerts in Theresienstein" series in Bavaria's oldest public park on Sundays from mid-May to the beginning of September, from 11:00 to 12:00. The musical spectrum of the promenade concerts is extraordinarily broad: classical music, singing, folklore and jazz through to brass and choral music. The series enjoys great popularity even beyond the borders of Hof. The 2025 season starts on May 11.

Assiko Free

On August 3, 2025 at 11 a.m.

ASSIKO FREE is a band from France in which four friends live their passion for music. The band was formed in the 80s. They meet again and again for rehearsals and special gigs - now widely scattered in south-east France due to professional changes. These are mainly organized for friends. At the Promenade Concerts, visitors are treated to a special treat because the musicians travel to Hof especially for their long-time friend, Peter Nürmberger, head of the cultural department in Hof, to celebrate his retirement. The band's music blends the rhythms of Cameroon, the original homeland of band leader Simon, with a touch of pop, rock and sentimental ballads. Whether in front of a large audience or privately among friends, Simon, Mich, Francois and Franck always play with heart and in a spirit of freedom.

Hannes Wölfel

On August 10, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Hannes is a musician through and through. When he is not performing solo on stage or working on new songs at home in the studio, he works as a music teacher and is on the road as a singer with the acoustic band "play again sam".

International songs from 40 years of music history are reinterpreted, but never distorted or distorted. Every facet that is possible with voice, guitar and loop station is used.

Sometimes you hear a "small band", a "whole orchestra" and then again reduced to just voice and guitar. Hannes' cheeky, cheerful manner is simply infectious and makes every listener "join in"! From time to time, you can also hear his own material from his albums "Unterwegs" and the EP "Stück für Stück zum Glück". German songs in singer/songwriter style, sometimes very personal, sometimes cheerful, but always with a lot of Hannes. And of course the "Glücksong - Stück für Stück zum Glück", with which Hannes won the Lottomusicaward 2019.

Goller & Goetz

On August 17, 2025 at 11 a.m.

They play and sing timeless and poignant pop and rock songs from the past 50 years and today and are a fixed program item at our promenade concerts. The "best songs in the world" are sparsely orchestrated, beautifully interpreted and sung with feeling. Music by Sting, Supertramp, Phil Collins, Toto, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Kansas, Eagles, even ACDC and many more is given a whole new quality without any technical frills, grounded and honest - just piano, guitar and vocals. The interpretations of Thomas Goller (guitar, vocals) & Tom Götz (piano, vocals) are not simply a replay, they are tributes to the musicians they admire.

The Frankenkrainer

On August 24, 2025 at 11 a.m.

After more than 20 years on stage together and several years of abstinence, the two musicians Klaus Opitz and Bernd Wolfrum decided to make music together again. No matter where the 5 musicians Klaus Opitz, clarinet; Bernd Wolfrum, guitar; Florian Opitz, baritone; Albrecht Degenkolb, accordion and Helmut Spörl, trumpet play, they have hit a nerve with their style of music and are unique in Upper Franconia. Look forward to an hour of Oberkrainer music with the Original Frankenkrainers.

Kickstarter

On 31.08.2025 at 11 am

Kickstarter are Mechthild Mühl (congas, percussion, vocals), Claudia Sichert-Gräbner (vocals, percussion), Carola Nüßel (accordion), Hence Bauer-Härtel (vocals, cajon, percussion), Norbert Litwinschuk (guitar, vocals) and Markus Schnabel (electric piano, organ, guitar). They play their way through a few decades of hand-picked rock music. According to their own statement, pure covers are not their thing - they prefer to impose their own groove on the more or less well-known classics. The rock-bluesy to soulful-funky spectrum with influences from folk and Americana ranges from the trip-hoppy "Massive Attack" to the snotty post-punk of the "White Stripes", from Otis Redding soul ballads with goosebump generators to classic heaters from "Creedence Clearwater", the "Doobie Brothers" or the "Rolling Stones".Listeners can expect plenty of harmony vocals, proper rocking, the occasional heart-wrenching tearjerker, overdriven solos and a love of improvisation.

Gery & the Johnboys

On 31 August 2025 at 2 pm

For 30 years they have been presenting honest, groovy, sensitive, irresistible, well-deserved and flawless rock'n'roll. As soon as they appear on stage, everything that can move shakes to the hits from the 50s to the 70s. From "Shake, Rattle & Roll" to "Jailhouse Rock" and the good old "Ballroom Blitz". In the Elvis style, you also match the outfit of the Rockin' Fifties. Of course, Chuck Berry, Paul Anka, Fats Domino and many other stars from this era are not forgotten.

Brass band "Fränkisch Blech" of the FGV Hof/S.

On September 7, 2025 at 11 a.m.

The brass band "Fränkisch Blech" with 17 musicians from Hof and the surrounding area is the flagship of the Fichtelgebirgsverein Hof/S. Under the direction of Manfred Völk, the musicians play Franconian, Bavarian and Bohemian brass music. As the Hof brass band since 2002, the musicians are happy to play for the Hof audience.

Nuremberg Customs Chapel

On May 11, 2025 at 11 a.m.

The Nuremberg Customs Band is a musical unit of today's General Customs Directorate. It was founded in 1956 at the former main customs office in Hof. The musicians of the customs band perform their musical activities as "genuine" customs officers in addition to their official duties. The repertoire ranges from Bohemian-Bavarian brass band music with polkas, waltzes and marches to evergreens, musical melodies and classic film music. The Zollkapelle is a particularly popular orchestra for the General Customs Directorate. It performs regularly as an orchestra, big band and in a small formation throughout northern Bavaria and beyond, not only at customs events but also at festivals and celebrations. Even at international engagements, the Zollkapelle, which currently consists of around 23 members, is a popular and welcome entertainer and always delights its audiences. Their conductor, Armin Scharnagl from Konnersreuth, and his orchestra are looking forward to your visit. As usual, Andrea Herbert will lead you through the program.

Eisenschmidt & Müller live

On May 18, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Somewhere in Spain, sometime in the middle of the 19th century, Antinio de Torres developed the guitar as we know it today. A whopping 180 years later, this instrument is still extremely popular and has been responsible for countless hits in music history. The acoustic duo "Eisenschmidt & Müller live" has taken up the cause of some of these hits and uses this very instrument to celebrate them on stage.

Dirk Eisenschmidt from Gera and Marco Müller from Schwarzenbach Saale are both multi-instrumentalists who have already played many concerts together, far beyond the borders of Thuringia and Upper Franconia. In addition to a balanced mix of songs from America, Supertramp, Cat Stevens and the Rolling Stones, among others, their set list also includes more unusual pieces, for example from Willy Astor's instrumental project "Sound of Islands". "Eisenschmidt & Müller" are far more than "just" a guitar duo. The two musicians also like to play other instruments, such as mandolin, mandocello, blues harp, djembe or Great Highland bagpipe. Variety is definitely guaranteed.

On July 13, 2025 at 11.00 a.m.

Hof-Moschendorf Youth Choir - Young voices, great sound

The Hof-Moschendorf Youth Choir is a choir that brings young voices together and shares the joy of singing. As part of the mixed choir Hof-Moschendorf 1906 e.V., more than 20 children, teenagers and young adults between the ages of 10 and 27 now sing in the choir.

Carolin Huebner has been leading the weekly choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings since 2024 and focuses on a varied repertoire that ranges from charts, pop and musicals to classical pieces. In addition to performing at concerts and events, the choir also has a lot to do outside of rehearsals: from musical visits and excursions to joint music camps.

For the children and young people, the choir is a safe haven - a place where everyone is welcome and can feel at home. Anyone who would like to sing is welcome to join at any time.

This year is a special one for the choir, as they are celebrating 50 years of choir youth at Gemischter Chor-Hof Moschendorf with many exciting performances - including at Theresienstein.

BÄO Böhmisch is led by Dr. Christoph Reiter, a radiotherapist from Augsburg. The net proceeds from this promenade concert will go to the Botanischer Garten, Theresienstein und Hof e.V. beautification association and Hof Zoo.
