Readings in the Hof public library

Franconian writers

The Hof public library is once again inviting people to its annual "Franconian Literary Writers" series. This time, the programme includes five authors who are coming to Hof with very different books.

Claudia Kneifel will kick things off on Thursday, 25 September 2025 with her non-fiction book "Verliebt, vertraut, verrechnet - erfolgreiche Altersvorsorge für Frauen ab 50".
This non-fiction book offers women over 50 ten practical strategies and easy-to-understand financial knowledge to help them make provisions for their retirement. The author gives valuable tips on mini- and part-time jobs, salary negotiations and the fairer distribution of care work.

On Monday, 6 October 2025, the successful author Tanja Kinkel will be a guest at the library. She will read from her book "Im Wind der Freiheit", which is about two women in the turmoil of the German revolution in 1848. Together they fight for freedom and democracy, defy censorship and oppression and change the future of Germany despite defeat. Johann Georg August Wirth from Hof was also an important trailblazer for freedom of the press and democracy at this time, and so this novel builds a bridge to Hof.

On Monday, 13 October 2025, Nadine Schneider will read from her book "Wherever I go". They both wanted to leave Romania, but then David disappeared and Johannes had to flee alone. A return to the past turns into a search for clues, culminating in the discovery of a fatal mistake.

On Monday, 20 October 2025, Franconian crime writer Tommie Goerz will be coming to Hof. Not with a crime thriller, however, but with the rather quiet novel "Im Schnee" (In the Snow). During the wake for his friend Schorsch, old Max remembers a life full of anecdotes, village stories and silence. The atmospheric tale reflects the cycles of life and the transformation of the rural community.

The last reading on Monday, 27 October 2025 will be given by Martina Bogdahn with her warm-hearted book "Mühlensommer". In "Mühlensommer", Martina Bogdahn humorously tells of a life between two worlds. About a youth in the country, an escape to the city and how sometimes you have to look back to find yourself.

All events start at 19:00 and are free of charge. Afterwards, there is always the opportunity to purchase the books and have them signed by the author.
