František Steker - Drawings

October 7 to November 24, 2024

František Steker is a Czech artist. His work as a draughtsman is strictly conceptual. His works go far beyond paper and pencil. Time, space and color play a major role. He uses different media, techniques and surfaces in a variety of ways. In doing so, he incorporates the exhibition space as well as the curiosity and playfulness of the viewer.

The exhibition includes works from the 1960s to the present day. Some were created especially for the foyer of the Freiheitshalle Hof and respond, as it were, to the conditions here.

František Steker (born in 1949 in Hřebečná in the Ore Mountains) studied visual communication at the Werkkunstschule Krefeld in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1968 to 1969 and at the University of Applied Arts "UMPRUM" in Prague from 1977 to 1983. His work is represented in national and international collections.

With this exhibition, the Cultural Office of the City of Hof is continuing its intensive engagement with Czech artists.

A comprehensive publication (240 pages, Czech/German) is available.

Location: Foyer of the Freiheitshalle Hof
Duration: October 7 to November 24, 2024
Opening hours: Mon to Fri, 10:00 to 17:00, and by appointment
Admission is free.
