Bühne raus

... art & culture outdoors and for everyone!

In the middle of the city, an open-air stage invites you to take part in a variety of activities: That is the concept behind bühne raus. Not only on the stage and in the evening - no, there will also be a colorful hustle and bustle in front of it and during the day. Bühne raus provides an unprecedented platform for a wide variety of cultural forms and target groups to come together.

In addition to established institutions, the independent scene, the neighborhood and the migrant world are also invited. It's the encounter that counts. That's why not only stage-oriented program components are planned, but also those that promote communication and getting to know each other.

After a brilliant start in 2023, bühne raus invites you to a new edition of the open-air experience from July 5 to 21, 2024!

It continues in 2024!

Our conclusion 2023

After 17 days of BÜHNE RAUS events, the city of Hof draws a positive conclusion. At the closing evening with the Hof Symphony Orchestra, Mayor Eva Döhla was once again able to clarify the cultural policy approach: "BÜHNE RAUS is more than just another open-air event. We have sent out a signal that says: Everyone belongs!" This was made clear by the list of participants, which ranged from initiatives, schools and institutions to traditional cultural institutions. Special emphasis was placed on cooperation and mutual openness.

The enormously diverse program was compiled and held together by the Cultural Office of the City of Hof. Anja Schmidt and head of the cultural department Peter Nürmberger were in charge and were supported in particular by the Freiheitshalle team. "Hof's cultural life can rely on this creative potential as well as its organizational strength," emphasized the Lord Mayor to the applause of around 400 concertgoers.

For the first time, the site on Friedrichstrasse, which had been badly maligned by the demolition of the former central store and the subsequent standstill, had been positively revitalized with this cultural impulse. The new owners of MedicalCube supported the project and provided the necessary space in the Schiller Quarter free of charge. The new Hof project was made possible by a large amount of funding from the German government's "Sustainable inner cities and centers" program, more precisely from the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building.

Peter Nürmberger dares to look ahead: "Next year, we are inviting people from July 5 to 21, 2024. If we've succeeded in anything in recent years - and especially with BÜHNE RAUS - it's in making the cultural diversity in Hof visible and bringing different things together." They want to continue this and plan the new edition with this year's partners and new actors. "But not just stage-oriented, but always together and with a focus on cultural diversity in all its colorful facets. Every cultural expression should have its place," promises the head of the cultural office in Hof.

    How it all began

Funding application in the "Sustainable inner cities and centers" program with the project "Hof city center - measures to upgrade and revitalize the center of Hof" in February 2022 | Grant notification from the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development in June 2022 | Advertising agency search in September & October 2022 | Commissioning of the advertising agency in December 2022

The first information meeting took place in the Galeriehaus on March 15, 2023. More than 50 interested parties responded to the call, were informed about the project and contributed initial ideas for participation.

In the following weeks, the culture department collected possible program items, held discussions and answered numerous questions about the project. At the same time, the social media channels were launched.

On April 29, 2023, the contracts for the stage, grandstand, event technology and infrastructure were awarded.

On May 3, 2023, potential participants came together for the second info meeting in the Galeriehaus. Peter Nürmberger, Head of the Department of Culture, presented the current planning status, encouraged cooperation between the participants and specified dates.

The event site was handed over on June 26, 2023 . From then on, construction began in the Schiller Quarter.
