General Social Service (ASD)
What it does and where it can help
The Youth Welfare Office supports parents, children and young adults in their family and individual social development. Our task is to alleviate disadvantages, promote participation in the community and provide families with advice and support. Our most important task is to protect children and young people from dangers to their well-being.

Tasks of the General Social Service
Protection mandate for children at risk
Protection for children and young people in the event of physical, emotional and sexual abuse
Youth welfare services
Counselling on general parenting issues
Counselling on partnership, separation and divorce issues
Counselling and support in exercising personal care and rights of access (Section 18 SGB VIII)
Offers of help by providing suitable and qualified support
Integration assistance for mentally disabled young people
Support for the family court
Participation in proceedings before the family courts in the event of separation, divorce and contact proceedings
What is the aim?
The aim of public youth welfare services is always to empower the young person (and their family) to the extent that support is no longer needed. In short: the task of youth welfare is to become superfluous.
