International reading garden in the city library

A place of encounter, exchange and diversity in cooperation between Diakonie Hochfranken and the Hof public library

Discovering the world of literature together, experiencing languages and building bridges between cultures: This is the aim of the international reading garden, a project that the integration guides from Diakonie Hochfranken have launched for the city of Hof together with the Hof public library. Various volunteers help to organise this offer.

The international reading garden is more than just a place to read - it is a lively meeting place for encounters and dialogue. Books in different languages can be borrowed so that everyone can read in their own language. There is the opportunity to present books, be it the ones you are currently reading or books from your childhood. There is room for the most diverse possibilities.

At the centre of this format is the exchange about reading in German. This not only promotes mutual language skills, but also strengthens integration.

"With the reading garden, we want to create a space in which diversity becomes visible and everyone feels welcome," explain the two integration guides Claudia Schott and Bärbel Uschold. "Literature is a bridge that connects cultures. By sharing books, we promote mutual understanding."

All citizens are cordially invited to visit the international reading garden, borrow books and actively participate in the programme.

Dates

The international reading garden takes place every fortnight on Friday at 17:00 in the Hof City Library. The next dates are 15.08. 2025 and 29.08.2025.
