School transport: apply now for the Verbundpass

Parents and pupils should check the expiry date of their existing travelcard in good time.

Those responsible for school transport in the Hofer Land region would like to remind you to apply for the Verbundpass for the coming school year 2025/26 in good time.

The 365-euro ticket will be issued again in the coming school year for eligible pupils who use public transport to get to school. The necessary public transport pass must be applied for independently from Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN). The tokens are issued by the school at the beginning of the school year.

The transport pass is always valid for one year and must then be downloaded or applied for again. Parents and pupils are therefore advised to check the expiry date of their current public transport pass in good time and to apply for a new pass if necessary.

The following applies to the application:

The application can be made free of charge via the new school portal VGNsmaxi free of charge (registration required).
After the age of 15, a school certificate is required, which can be easily uploaded via the portal athttps://www.vgn.de/media/nachweisformular-ausbildung.pdf. The school certificate must be confirmed by the school. Alternatively, you can also submit your own school certificate.
Once the application has been successfully submitted, you can print out the Verbundpass and attach it to the issued token.

Extension

Under certain conditions, the previous Verbundpass is automatically extended if the old Verbundpass has already been applied for via VGNsmaxi. The following conditions must be met:

The child is under 15 years old
No more than the 10th grade is attended
There is no change of educational programme

If these conditions are met, the travel pass is automatically renewed for the next school year and can be downloaded and printed out on VGNsmaxi (under "my applications" in the "checked" tab). This is available from 60 days before the start of school. If one of the above conditions is not met, a new application must be submitted for the next school year.

School transport (free travel to and from school) for the city of Hof can be applied for online using the transport application form. The application must be confirmed in writing by the school.
