Foster care service

Strong together for the child

Foster families bear a great deal of responsibility - and the foster care service is there to support them at all times. It not only provides support during the preparation phase, but is also a reliable long-term contact for foster parents, foster children and families of origin. The Foster Children's Service offers orientation, security and professional support on a path that is challenging, but also enriching and meaningful. After all, good foster care is best achieved together.

Here are the three central areas of its work:

1. individualised support in day-to-day care

Once a foster child has been taken in, the support does not end - on the contrary: the foster children's service remains at the family's side permanently. The child's development is monitored in regular discussions and home visits and challenges in everyday life are addressed together. The foster care service is also on hand to provide advice in the event of uncertainties or conflicts - always with the aim of stabilising the situation and ensuring the child's well-being.

2. professional support & further development

Foster parents are given access to practical training courses, opportunities to exchange ideas and topic-specific seminars. These programmes strengthen foster parents in their role, broaden their awareness of the special needs of foster children and promote exchange with other families. The training programmes are supervised by specialists and external speakers - practical, lively and supportive.

3. mediation & bridging function between all parties involved

The foster care service is not only there for foster parents and children - it also takes on a mediating role between foster families, parents of origin, schools, therapists and other organisations. In particular, the organisation and support of contact with the family of origin is coordinated sensitively. The focus is always on the child's well-being - with the aim of promoting sustainable relationships and providing the best possible support for the child.
