Vocational school & technical school
The technical colleges generally build on completed relevant vocational training or a corresponding practical activity is required. They lead to in-depth vocational training and promote general education. Vocational schools do not require any vocational training. They teach general and technical subjects and lead to a vocational training qualification.
The vocational schools
Vocational schools come in two forms:
- Vocational schools that provide completed vocational education and training
- Vocational schools that prepare students for vocational training or a job in one or more years Vocational schools that provide completed vocational training usually last two to three years
Instruction includes general education and vocational subjects as well as practical vocational training. If vocational schools that prepare students for vocational training or a vocational activity in one or more years are followed by relevant vocational training, the training at the vocational school is usually credited with one year towards this vocational training.

Vocational School
The technical school lasts from 1 to 4 school years, partly in part-time classes, in various fields of training. Admission requirements: Completion of relevant vocational training and, as a rule, subsequent relevant professional activity. In full-time instruction, school attendance here lasts two years, in part-time instruction correspondingly longer. In addition to these schools, the chambers and guilds offer a large number of preparatory courses for the master craftsman's examination, which are not the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs.
