Urban development funding

Urban development funding from the federal government, the state and the city can be granted for the preparation and implementation of construction and redevelopment measures within the redevelopment areas, urban redevelopment areas and other development areas formally defined by statute.

The urban development funding consists of various funding programs of the federal government, the states and the municipalities for the promotion of

  • Urban centers in need of renewal, in Hof in particular the Biedermeier quarter and the Gründerzeit buildings
  • Urban development preservation in historic city centers,
  • Urban redevelopment projects and in (residential) neighborhoods affected by vacancy,
  • Social projects

Support areas in the city of Hof

Currently, there are the following support areas in the city of Hof:

Living Centers (formerly Stadtumbau West.

Main focus: Preservation and development of town and city centers.

As early as 2004, the German federal government launched the "Stadtumbau-West" urban redevelopment program. It supports municipalities in the difficult task of counteracting the consequences of economic and demographic change. In 2020, urban development funding was restructured and the "Stadtumbau West" funding program was replaced by "Lebendige Zentren" (Living Centers). The perimeter of the area has not changed.

Social cohesion (formerly Social City).

Priorities: Maintaining coexistence in the neighborhood; investments in the Bahnhofsviertel and Johann-Weiß-Strasse neighborhoods.

The "Socially Integrative City" urban development program has existed since 1999. Between 1999 and 2014, various projects were developed and implemented in the Bahnhofsviertel district of Hof. In 2020, urban development funding was restructured and the "Socially Integrative City" funding program was replaced by "Social Cohesion". In addition to the Hofer Bahnhofsviertel, this funding program has also applied to the new Johann-Weiß-Strasse neighborhood since 2020.
