Integrated urban development concept sets the course for the future
The Berlin-based office raumplaner has been working on the integrated urban development concept for the city of Hof for some time now. The current processing status has now been presented to the Environment and Planning Committee.
Sabine Slapa, Managing Director of the commissioned office, spoke about the mission statement and the target system, which are central elements of the integrated urban development concept. They form a link between a detailed analysis of the initial situation and the needs assessment as well as a strategic view of the future. These elements are also considered from the perspective of the demographic development of the city of Hof. To this end, Prof Dr Ralf Ulrich, who also teaches demography at Bielefeld University, prepared a population forecast. This shows the effects of various development scenarios on population development.
Various stakeholders were involved in the creation of the concept. Citizens were able to contribute their opinions and ideas to the concept both at a kick-off event in the Freiheitshalle and later online. Various departments of the city administration also provided the office working on the concept with different content. In addition, a closed meeting was held with representatives of the Hof city council. But that's not all.
On Thursday, 30 October 2025, a citizens' event will take place at 18:30 at the Volkshochschule Hof. The focus will be on the demographic study and the current status of the ISEK. Citizens are invited to evaluate the results and thus contribute to the final version of the ISEK.
A further closed meeting with representatives from politics and administration will follow in November to define key measures for future development.
Mayor Eva Döhla explains:
"With the Integrated Urban Development Concept, we are laying the foundations for a sustainable and liveable future for Hof. It is important that we take on the challenges together and utilise the opportunities in a concentrated manner to make our city attractive for all generations."
