Hof broadband expansion

In 2018, the city of Hof used a federal program to analyze the entire city area in terms of broadband coverage. The second funding procedure has now been launched for the last major underserved areas (less than 30 Mbit/s).

The proceedings have now been concluded.

within the framework of the Directive on the Promotion of the Establishment of High-Speed Networks in the Free State of Bavaria (BbR).

With the Directive to Promote the Construction of High-Speed Networks (Broadband Directive - BbR) of July 9, 2014, the Free State of Bavaria is promoting the successive construction of high-performance broadband networks (next-generation networks, NGA networks) with transmission rates of at least 50 Mbit/s for downloads and much higher upload speeds than for basic supply networks in areas where these networks are not yet available.

Before subsidies can be used, the city of Hof must, in accordance with No. 4.3 ff. BbR, the city of Hof must ask network operators for their comments as part of the market survey: on their own expansion plans, on documented actual coverage, and on current infrastructures that are not yet listed in the BNetzA's infrastructure atlas. The city of Hof(wirtschaftsfoerderung(at)stadt-hof.de) therefore requests comments on the following points by 18.06.2018 at the latest:

Announcement of the selection decision under the Directive to Promote the Construction of High-Speed Networks in the Free State of Bavaria (Broadband Directive - BbR).

Companies were invited to submit bids for the planned broadband expansion under the broadband support program in the city of Hof. Bids were received from the companies in due time and form by the deadline. Based on the city council resolution of January 21, 2019, the city of Hof intends to conclude a cooperation agreement for Lot 1, Lot 2 and Lot 6 with Telekom Deutschland GmbH. The prerequisite for concluding the contract is the approval of the granting authority (Government of Upper Franconia), which is still outstanding.
