Reception and parade
On Monday, June 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., the wake-up call and reception will take place in front of the town hall, where the Schlappenkönig or Schlappenkönigin will be formally announced. The parade then begins from the town hall to the shooting house. Many groups march along, including guests of honor, trainees from the city of Hof, various shooting associations, Hussites, representatives of the craft beer industry, majorettes and brass bands from the twin town of Eger, the German Armed Forces, the naval association, representatives of the craft industry and many more.
In the marquee, the motto is "Etzert leffds!" and the people of Hof celebrate the Hofer Schlappentag together with many guests in an exuberant and peaceful manner and can enjoy the Schlappentag beer brewed especially for the Schlappentag by the Scherdel brewery.

Schlappenbier
A beer that doesn't come along every day
In March 2025, the time has come: the special brew for Scherdel Schlappenbier 2025 has been brewed. After the main fermentation, it matures for several weeks before the Schlappenbier is available for all Schlappenbier lovers to buy from June 16. Shortly before Schlappen Day, it is filled freshly into kegs and bottles with an original gravity of 16.3 percent and an alcohol content of 6.5 percent and is only delivered in the early morning of Schlappentag.
If you would like to toast one of Germany's oldest guild festivals in advance, you can do so on Saturday evening, June 14, at the Scherdel Biergartenfest. Although the Schlappenbier is not yet available at this time, there is something for every taste with the Scherdel Pilsner and the Zoigl or Hell specialties. With hearty, handmade music and Franconian delicacies, it's a great way to while away the hours.
Schlappenbier is only available while stocks last. Traditionally, only a limited quantity of this rarity is brewed. Scherdel Schlappenbier has recently won awards in several quality competitions. For the second time in a row, the European Beer Star jury voted Hofer Schlappenbier the best bock beer in the world in the "German Style Heller Bock" category. The German Agricultural Society also awarded the Schlappenbier another DLG gold medal for its outstanding quality.

Creative competition
Children design their favorite slippers
In order to bring even the youngest children into contact with tradition, the organizers of the Schlappentag - Hofer Handwerk, Privilegierte Scheiben-Schützen-Gesellschaft, Brauerei Scherdel and the city of Hof - have once again launched a creative competition for the kindergartens in Hof.
This year's motto is "HANDwerk - Show us your hands!". The kindergarten children are called upon to present their hands in a creative way until May 28, 2025.
The organizers will select the winning work from the numerous entries. The winning kindergarten will be announced on the stage in front of the town hall on Schlappentag. The Hofer Wärschtlamo will visit the kindergarten and hand out Wärschtla to the children.
From history
The origin of the festival can be found in the document from 1430 or its copy from a 17th century file in the Plassenburg Secret Archives:
