Additional qualification for drivers in commercial goods transport
Due to a new EU-wide regulation, drivers in the commercial transport of goods or passengers must prove that they have a qualification according to the so-called Berufskraftfahrer-Qualifikations-Gesetz (BKrFQG) in addition to their driver's license in order to be able to work in these areas on a self-employed or employed basis - even on a temporary basis. The teaching of activity-related skills and knowledge as part of the basic qualification to new entrants or the further training of active driving personnel is intended to achieve positive effects for road safety, a defensive driving style and rational fuel consumption.
For truck drivers with vehicles over 3.5 tons permissible total mass (goods transport with classes C1, C1E, C, CE, CE79 or old classes 2, 3) this will happen on 10.09.2009.
