Citizens' centre offers biometric passport photos

New legal regulations for biometric photographs have been in force since 1 May 2025. They may only be created digitally by certified organisations.
The City of Hof has been offering this service for the Residents' Registration Office and Foreigners' Registration Office for a few days now, making it easier to apply for ID documents. Two self-service terminals are available. The image is automatically transferred to the system - quickly, securely and in accordance with standards. The fee for the passport photo at the Citizens' Centre is six euros.
Alternatively, the digital passport photo can be taken by a certified service provider that has secure cloud access to the authority. A list of authorised photo studios can be found on the website www.alfo-passbild.com. This service is particularly recommended for small children.
The legal amendment is part of the Act to Strengthen Security in Passport, ID and Foreigners' Documents. The aim is to prevent the manipulation of official documents and to increase the security of identity documents. Photographs that only exist in paper form will no longer be accepted by the City of Hof.
