Schiller Grammar School embellishes school wall

Two project seminars (P-Seminars) at Schiller-Gymnasium in Hof have redesigned the school wall this year. Under the leadership of Sebastian Schumann and Bastian Schatz, the students implemented the project, which not only serves to beautify the school grounds, but also integrates local heritage motifs. The city of Hof supported the project with almost 4,000 euros for building yard services, including the use of a mobile high-pressure cleaner and the costs for the necessary road closure.
The implementation of the project followed a clearly structured process: In the planning phase, the pupils developed creative concepts and selected motifs that related to the city of Hof and the Upper Franconia region. The renovation then began, with the wall being cleaned, old layers of paint removed and damaged areas replastered. In the subsequent design phase, the selected motifs were applied to the wall with great dedication and artistic skill. The completion of the project was honored with a small celebration at which the results were presented to the public.
The project also received 2,000 euros in funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Regional Identity as part of the "Heimat.Engagiert!" pilot funding program. State Secretary for Regional Identity Martin Schöffel emphasized at the presentation of the funding decisions: "Our Bavarian homeland is diverse and multifaceted. By handing over the funding notification, we are supporting 18 innovative homeland projects with a fixed amount of 2,000 euros." In addition, a crowdfunding campaign was launched in cooperation with VR Bank Bayreuth-Hof, which raised over 7,000 euros.
As part of the project, the pupils focused intensively on their surroundings and implemented creative ideas to beautify the school wall. The work reflects an awareness of regional identity and contributes to an appealing learning environment. A particular highlight of the project was the involvement of nearby elementary school in Hof. For example, the P-Seminar visited Eichendorff Primary School and Sophien Primary School to carry out experiments with the pupils and get them excited about the project.
