Renovation of the wooden stand in the "Grüne Au" stadium

The city of Hof is planning an extensive renovation of the historic wooden grandstand in the "Grüne Au".

At its most recent meeting, the Holiday Committee decided to renovate the wooden stand of the "Grüne Au" in line with its listed status. The decision follows the city council's decision in October 2022 and marks an important step towards preserving and promoting sport in Hof and the youth performance center, or NLZ for short, there.

Operations building: funding secures financing

The city of Hof has successfully participated in the federal program "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture - SJK 2022" and will receive funding from the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) in the amount of 4,621,125 euros for the energy-efficient renovation including a partial replacement of the operations building. This is 75% of the total costs applied for. The City of Hof's own contribution therefore amounts to 1,540,375 euros. This own contribution is fully covered by budget expenditure reserves.

Inclusion of the wooden grandstand

The wooden grandstand, which is essential for the operation of the "Grüne Au", was inspected by the Technical Facility Management department. It was determined that the grandstand is also in need of renovation.

The planned refurbishment measures include painting the wooden façade and structure, replacing and refurbishing the wooden benches, refurbishing the wooden grandstand floor and refurbishing the wooden panels of the vestibule. In addition, the area where the lower wooden benches are placed will be fitted with a concrete step construction to prevent further washout caused by rain. The costs for the renovation work, which is in keeping with the preservation order, are estimated at around 357,900 euros.

The historic wooden grandstand of the "Grüne Au" has now been officially added to the list of protected monuments by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments. The existing monument protection for the wooden grandstand - in conjunction with the execution of renovation work on the wooden grandstand - now enables the city of Hof to apply for funding from the Upper Franconia Foundation for the renovation of the operations building and the renovation work on the wooden grandstand. This offers the prospect of a grant of 969,725 euros. This additional funding will reduce the city's own contribution to 928,550 euros.
