Regional ranking 2024 confirms positive development for the city of Hof

Hof is in sixth place among the power regions.

The city of Hof has achieved pleasing results in the latest regional ranking 2024 by the German Economic Institute (IW) and stands out thanks to its dynamic developments and positive changes.

In the study, the researchers examined a total of 14 weighted indicators from the areas of economic structure, labor market and quality of life. These indicators include aspects such as municipal tax capacity, ageing, doctor density, the proportion of qualified employees, crime rates, private over-indebtedness, female employment and inward and outward migration.

According to the study, the integration of migrants is important for the positive development of Hof, as they make an important contribution to alleviating the shortage of skilled workers. This diversity strengthens the local economy and promotes social integration.

"I am delighted that our city of Hof stands out so positively in this ranking. Our city has developed dynamically in recent years. There have been and still are changes. Overall, we are on a promising path. Migration plays a role in this. Over 2,000 people with a refugee background have already been integrated into the labor market. There is further potential here, which is also good for our economy. We want to continue on our successful course and continue to promote and invest in education, innovation and sustainable energy. I am convinced of the path we are taking together in the Hof region," says Mayor Eva Döhla.

Hof even achieved sixth place in the so-called power regions, i.e. regions in Germany that developed most dynamically between 2022 and 2024.

"The study shows that the dominance of the south in Bavaria is crumbling and new dynamic centers are developing in the north. This development makes it clear that we must not rest on our laurels, but must continuously work on our competitiveness," says Klaus-Jochen Weidner, Head of Economic Development at the City of Hof.
