New school kitchen at Münster Middle School

The ultra-modern school kitchen is ready in time for the new school year.

A contemporary learning space

The pupils at Münster Middle School in Hof are delighted to have a fully renovated, state-of-the-art school kitchen, which was completed in time for the new school year. Extensive renovation work took place during the summer vacations to replace the approximately 30-year-old kitchen with a contemporary and functional design. The city administration worked closely with the school family to provide pupils with an optimally equipped learning space for nutrition and social studies. As part of career guidance, nutrition and social studies is a fixed part of the timetable for all Year 7 pupils in Bavaria with two lessons per week. For the higher grades, there are even three to four lessons per week on the program, depending on the orientation. The new school kitchen therefore represents an investment in the future, in which the pupils can learn and implement sustainable, practical and social work. Thanks to the constructive cooperation between the subject teachers and the schools department of the city of Hof, numerous wishes and optimization ideas could be implemented. The school kitchen now offers 16 workstations as well as a barrier-free, wheelchair-accessible area so that inclusion students can now also take part in cooking lessons without any restrictions.

Quality and sustainability

The modern equipment includes several sinks, induction hobs, two refrigerators, non-slip flooring and a powerful exhaust air system. In addition to practical functionality, attention was also paid to providing sufficient storage space. The specialist teachers report that great importance was attached to high quality and modernity when selecting the appliances. In terms of sustainability, usable elements from the old kitchen were also integrated, as Münster Middle School is one of the "environmental schools" in Bavaria. Another highlight is the collaboration with local and nearby craftsmen, who carried out almost all of the renovation and construction work. This strengthens the regional economy and underlines the commitment of the school and the town to the local community. The new school kitchen is therefore a win-win situation for everyone: a modern place of learning that focuses on sustainable and practical education for the pupils and at the same time supports the idea of inclusion.
