New traffic law measures

Improving the roadworks situation and increasing school route safety

The city of Hof takes the concerns of retailers and residents in the city centre very seriously and is in close contact with the police, emergency services and local retailers in order to overcome the challenges of the current roadworks situation in the best possible way. Ludwigstraße can still be reached by car. Parking is also still possible there. In view of the increasing traffic density in the Klostertor / Theaterstraße area, the city has now decided on additional measures that will apply from 1 September 2025. The focus here is on the safety of schoolchildren and the most even distribution of traffic possible.

Residents' traffic extended

Residential traffic now also includes journeys into Ludwigstraße and Sigmundsgraben. A complete diversion of car traffic into Klostertor is not possible for capacity reasons and in consideration of school route safety.

One-way traffic regulation in Bürgerstraße

In order to divert traffic past Neustädter Grundschule and Jean-Paul Gymnasium in Theaterstraße, the one-way traffic regulation in Bürgerstraße will be reversed from 1 September 2025 (see traffic plan in the appendix).
From this time onwards, residents (which now also includes residents of Ludwigstraße and Sigmundsgraben) will be able to drive from Klostertor into Bürgerstraße via the newly established priority road and ultimately into Ludwigstraße.
It will still be possible for school traffic to turn from Klostertor into Theaterstraße. However, it will only be possible to exit via Klosterstraße or Auguststraße, as it is not possible to turn into Theaterstraße (coming from Klosterstraße) for traffic reasons.

Reduce school traffic

In order to further reduce school traffic and increase the safety of children at Neustädter Grundschule and Jean-Paul-Gymnasium, parents approaching from Graben are asked to let their children get on and off the bus in Sigmundsgraben (at the Lionhalle car park), which currently has little traffic.

On-site appointment

Temporary reductions in parking charges in Ludwigstraße are currently being examined in order to accommodate the traders there. Furthermore, there will be an on-site meeting at the construction site on Sigmundsgraben for residents, traders and interested parties, at which the traffic office, the building authority and Stadtwerke Hof will provide information on the current construction progress and the traffic situation. The first appointment will take place on 5 September 2025 at 8:30 am at the construction site on Sigmundsgraben.
