New defibrillators for Hof city council
The city of Hof has installed defibrillators in various administrative offices. The Förderkreis Notfallversorgung e.V. donated 1,000 euros for the purchase of the devices. "Every second counts when it comes to life and death. With this measure, we want to improve emergency care for both employees and visitors to the city's facilities. I would like to thank the Förderkreis for its financial support and for its commitment to the health of the population," says Mayor Eva Döhla.
The eleven fully automatic external defibrillators, AEDs for short, have a monolingual voice control for user guidance, an adult and a child mode, an emergency set and a pair of electrodes for young and adult people.
"The devices are easy to use. The problem is usually overcoming your own inhibitions," says Norbert Goßler, Chairman of the Förderkreis für Notfallversorgung.
Voice control guides you step by step through the application. The devices automatically recognize whether a shock is required and only trigger it if it is medically necessary. The device's child mode adjusts the intensity of the shock accordingly. While one person performs chest compressions, another person prepares the device and attaches the electrodes below the right collarbone and below the left armpit. The device starts the measurement and gives timely instructions to interrupt the chest compressions and trigger the shock. The device continues to communicate independently with those involved and gives continuous instructions. The emergency number 112 should always be contacted at the same time as the defibrillator is used.
