Hof budget 2025 approved

Budget 2025 characterised by major financial challenges.

The city of Hof received approval for its 2025 budget in a letter from the government of Upper Franconia dated 11 July 2025. As expected, the approval also contains conditions that are currently being reviewed.

Mayor Eva Döhla commented: "This approval is a great success. It recognises all the efforts we have made together in recent months. And it was a real team effort. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all the parliamentary groups in the city council. We struggled a lot together to get the budget together - and in the end, it was passed by a large majority. I would like to thank my team in the city administration, who drew up this budget under the most difficult conditions and worked hard to ensure that we as a city remain capable of acting. And I would also like to thank the government of Upper Franconia, which has accompanied us on this journey and provided advice and support."

The 2025 budget is characterised by austerity and the major financial challenges facing many municipalities in Germany. The approval that has now been granted means that important projects and investments in the future of the city of Hof can now be tackled.

"It remains a feat of strength and a balancing act to simultaneously implement the necessary austerity measures and still actively shape our city. Nevertheless, I remain confident: if we continue to pull together, we will also master future tasks," says Lord Mayor Eva Döhla. "Despite all the criticism, we can say that Hof is on the right track! The quality of life in our city is high - and we will do everything we can to maintain it and lead it into a good future. In view of the necessary consolidation course, a clear prioritisation is needed over the next few years. At the same time, even small measures can have a big impact."
