Fernweh Park updates Hof's twin cities

The city of Hof recently handed over the missing plaques of its twin towns to the Fernweh Park in Oberkotzau.

The first handover took place in October 2023. During her second visit, Hof's Lord Mayor Eva Döhla presented Klaus Beer with the town sign for the university town of Hof and the sign for the twin town of Ogden. The original American street sign was presented to the official Hof delegation by the city administration of Ogden during their visit to the state of Utah/USA at the beginning of the year.

The Fernweh Park thus remains a living symbol of friendship and international cooperation that attracts visitors from all over the world. "I am delighted that Hof's twin towns are now worthily represented in the Fernweh Park. Fernweh Park is an attraction for visitors from all over the world and symbolizes peace and international understanding," said Mayor Eva Döhla at the handover of the signs.

Fernweh Park, which moved from Hof to Oberkotzau in 2017, is known for its colorful collection of town signs and greetings from over 500 celebrities from the worlds of film, showbiz and sport. These celebrity supporters help spread the Fernweh Park's ideals of fighting racism and preserving habitats. Klaus Beer, the park's initiator, was delighted with the new signs: "The place name signs of Hof's twin towns and friendship cities have now found their full place."

Travel documentary filmmaker Klaus Beer brought the original idea back from filming in Canada and initiated the Fernweh Park for boundless freedom and international understanding on the banks of the Saale on November 9, 1999, ten years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since then, people from all over the world have been able to immortalize themselves in the Fernweh Park with signs of their hometown or make their dream trips unforgettable in signs. Mayors from all over Germany travel to the park and hand over their town plaques and twin town signs.
