Fabian Riemen becomes the new head of the cultural department

The City of Hof's Department of Culture plays a central role in coordinating and promoting the city's diverse cultural offerings.

On August 1, 2025, Fabian Riemen will take up his new position as Head of the Cultural Office of the City of Hof. He will initially work part-time from April and will manage the transition phase together with Peter Nürmberger, the previous Head of the Cultural Office. Peter Nürmberger will retire in the summer of 2025.

An important department for the city of Hof

The City of Hof's Department of Culture plays a central role in coordinating and promoting the city's diverse cultural offerings. The tasks of the head of the cultural department include the strategic development and networking of municipal cultural institutions such as the Museum Bayerisches Vogtland, the Hof public library and the Freiheitshalle Hof with its numerous concerts and cultural events. In addition, the Department of Culture works closely with independent cultural institutions such as the Hof International Film Festival, the Hof Theater and the Hof Symphony Orchestra and supports their development within the framework of cultural policy planning.

Mayor Eva Döhla: "Culture is far more than just entertainment - it is a location factor, an educational mission and a unifying element for our urban society. Hof is a city with exceptional cultural diversity. Maintaining and developing this quality is an important task for us as a city."

Fabian Riemen, a versatile cultural scientist and cultural practitioner, is returning to Hof. In recent years, he has worked in various cultural and academic positions - as a producer for film and theater, actor, theater educator, musician, presenter and academic.

Riemen's professional career includes leading positions in the cultural and scientific landscape. Since 2019, he has been a research assistant and team leader at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, where he is active in research on theater studies, extremism prevention and fundamental and human rights, among other things.

His connection to Hof has remained over the years

  • As coordinator of the moderation team of the Hof International Film Festival, he has been accompanying the filmmakers through the festival program since 2020.
  • With the project "Hof Kunst & Kultur. Shaping Society" project, he actively promotes the visibility and development of Hof's cultural scene.
  • He already worked as an actor and theater educator at Theater Hof in 2018.

Fabian Riemen: "Hof has produced an outstanding cultural landscape in which established institutions and a diverse independent scene enrich each other. I would like to continue to drive this development forward together with the city's community."
