"Digital together" will be continued
The "Together digitally" project has been running with great success since June 2024. Young people, including trainees from the city of Hof and pupils from Johann Christian Reinhart High School, have been helping digital newcomers with questions about smartphones and PCs once a week. This low-threshold and free service is aimed at all age groups and is particularly popular with senior citizens. Now that the funding has come to an end in March 2025, the project will be continued together with the Hof Seniors' Council.
"We see how important digital skills are for social participation. It is therefore very important to us that the project is continued. The Seniors' Council is exactly the right partner to continue this offer and develop it further in line with the target group," says Mayor Eva Döhla.
From 2 April 2025, the Seniors' Council will take over the organization and further development of "Zusammen digital". It will be accompanied by digitalization officer Felix Hopperdietzel. Young people will continue to be active as digital advisors. What is new is that senior citizens with a digital affinity can now also take part in order to help each other. "The intergenerational cooperation is particularly nice. Senior citizens learn from young people and vice versa - everyone involved benefits, especially when it comes to social skills," explains Peter Reich from the Seniors' Council.
In addition to individual advice, the new concept of the Seniors' Council also includes keynote speeches on practical digitalization topics, for example on using the EasyPark app, the digital patient file or the Egon fare on the VGN.
As usual, the consultation takes place every Wednesday from 14:00 to 15:30. The VHS is making its premises available free of charge as part of the "Wandelbar - erfolgreich - gestärkt - erleben ab 60" project. There are plans to expand the project to other parts of the city in the future.
We are looking for digitally savvy people of all ages who would like to pass on their knowledge to strengthen the team. Anyone interested can contact the Seniors' Council by emailing seniorenrat(at)stadt-hof.de.
