Digital Day was a great success

More than 60 interested citizens accepted the invitation from the Seniors' Council of the City of Hof and the Volkshochschule Hofer Land to the Digital Day 2025, which took place on 27 June at the Einstein1 innovation and start-up centre. Under the motto "Being digital. No question of age.", the event offered practical insights into everyday digital topics, especially for the older generation. The event was moderated by Alexander Hutterer, who is a member of the Seniors' Council of the city of Hof and is committed to providing qualified information on the topic of "digitalisation".
Informative presentations dealt with central topics of everyday digital life:
Anne Browa from the VHS emphasised the wide range of services offered by regional online retailers. People with limited mobility in particular have great advantages here. Secure online shopping works if the shop has been certified with a seal of approval. This seal must be linked to the testing organisation. Common payment methods in online retail include PayPal or credit card payment. Here, the speaker recommends contacting your bank or the advice team at the Seniors' Council for information.
The use of the digital ticket "egon - mein VGN eTarif" was presented by Daniel Merkl from Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nürnberg (VGN). The advantages and use of the "easyPark app" were also particularly important for those present. Parking in the city is much more attractive if the parking duration can be set according to need. Peter Reich from the Seniors' Council gave a presentation on his personal application and was able to arouse the interest of those present.
Finally, Felix Hopperdietzel, digitalisation officer for the city of Hof, emphasised that the continuation of the "digital together" project is an important part of his work. On 1 July, he was given additional staff to ensure that the educational and networking work can continue to succeed in the future.
Following the presentations, participants took the opportunity to ask individual questions and chat to the experts in a relaxed atmosphere. A small snack and drinks were provided to bridge the waiting time and encourage dialogue.
The modern facilities and barrier-free infrastructure of the Einstein1 venue provided ideal conditions for the information event.
The successful cooperation between the city of Hof, the Seniors' Council and the VHS Hofer Land made this successful digital day possible, which impressively demonstrated that digital participation is not a question of age.
The interest and positive response of the participants confirm the need: the weekly, free digital consultation hours of the Seniors' Council will continue to take place on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 4:30 pm (except during school holidays) at the VHS. There, individual questions about smartphones, the internet etc. are answered in a practical way.
