BORDER OPENING - A HAPPY CASE FOR THE REGION Video review with interviews with contemporary witnesses
The video (45 min.) focuses on the significance of the opening of the border and German reunification for Hof and the region and is a review of an event organized by the Plauen and Hof Soroptimists in 2019.
Among other things, three contemporary witnesses talk about the historic events in the Hof-Plauen region in the fall of 1989 in an interview with the Hof actress Julia Leinweber. The former mayor of Hof, Dieter Döhla, talks about the arrival of the "Prague trains" and the willingness of the people of Hof to help. The memorial educator Siglinde Waschke tells interesting stories about life in the divided village of Mödlareuth. Historian Gerd Neumann describes how the charged atmosphere developed in October 1989 during the first peaceful mass demonstration in Plauen.
The video documentary will be followed by a discussion with contemporary witnesses.
