Hof's shopping and experience mile

The pulsating heart of downtown Hof are the large and small streets and cozy squares that attract locals and guests alike at any time of year. Amidst the historic streets and buildings of the old town and along Ludwigstraße, you can not only stroll, shop and indulge in culinary delights, but also experience culture and nature and discover interesting sights. Time flies during a visit to downtown Hof.

Enjoy lifestyle

The varied mix of large and small stores, boutiques and specialty stores makes downtown Hof the ideal starting point for an extended shopping tour. In between, there are cafés, bistros, restaurants with international cuisine and home-style inns that invite you to linger and enjoy yourself during a shopping break. You should also try a pair of fragrant sausages from one of the Hofer Wärschtlamänner, who have been part of the cityscape for more than 150 years with their mobile sausage sales from a copper kettle. In summer, the city center is transformed into a large sun terrace from which you can experience the life and hustle and bustle of the city. Enjoy the Upper Franconian way of life!

Discover places worth seeing

During a tour of downtown Hof, many sights are practically on your way. Enjoy the view from the town hall tower, visit one of our churches or stroll through the Biedermeier quarter. In the Bavarian Vogtland Museum you can learn more about the city and regional history of Hof and the Bavarian Vogtland. During a walk in the Saale meadows you can enjoy the beautiful river landscape and find peace from the hustle and bustle of the city. Sightseeing and discovering nature - the city center of Hof offers all this.

From April to October, a guided tour of Hof takes place every Saturday at 11 am. The meeting point is the Tourist Information, Ludwigstraße 24, and no registration is necessary.

Experience art and culture

As an art lover, you should not miss a visit to the Johann Christian Reinhart Cabinet. Reinhart is one of the most important landscape painters of the 18th century and was born in Hof in 1761. A large part of the exhibition rooms of the Reinhart Cabinet is dedicated to the paintings and drawings of the famous son of our town. In addition, there are changing exhibitions of works by other artists from the holdings of the Municipal Art Collection. The virtual art collection of the neighboring Museum Bayerisches Vogtland, which focuses on local painters, graphic artists and sculptors, is also worth a visit. Another highlight and an integral part of the cultural scene are the International Hof Film Days. Always in the last week of October, downtown Hof is the meeting place for film fans, cinema celebrities and camera crews. A festival for cineastes!
