Beaver consultant
in the area of the city of Hof
The Bavarian Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection established the Bavarian beaver management system more than ten years ago with the aim of preventing or minimizing damage-related conflicts as far as possible. At the same time, a favorable conservation status of the beaver population in Bavaria is to be ensured. Responsibility for beaver management lies with the lower nature conservation authorities at the district administrative authorities.

Since the beaver from the district is also increasingly spreading in areas of the city of Hof, which can lead to problems with the dams and damage to the trees, the city of Hof has called in a beaver consultant. Mr. Boris Schnabel is responsible for the district area as well as the city of Hof. Since March 1, 2023, he has been regularly checking the waters in the urban area for the presence of beavers or damage caused by beavers and contacting the injured party to coordinate further action.
