Virtual reality at the Hof vocational school

Innovative technology: trainees in healthcare professions learn with VR glasses.

Exploring the inside of the human body with animated virtual 3D technology. This is now possible for trainees in the health department at the vocational school in Hof. The Zweckverband Berufsschule und Bildung in Stadt und Landkreis Hof recently purchased a VR system for the training of medical and dental assistants at the Hof site.

"We want to use it to make medical topics exciting and accessible. With the help of virtual reality, the human body can be viewed in 3D in this system, for example organs can be interactively rotated, turned and even entered," explains the chairman of the association, District Administrator Dr. Oliver Bär.

At the most recent meeting of the special purpose association, the members were able to try out the new, innovative 3D animation from ANIMA RES for themselves - and the enthusiasm for the possibilities of visualizing organs, their functions and clinical pictures was great.

Senior teacher Nadine Herzog also reported on her lessons at the vocational school, where she recently started using the technology in the first and second years of training: "With the new system, we can give the students an understanding of four organ systems: Heart, lung, kidney and prostate. We have already noticed a huge increase in motivation and great enthusiasm in the class during the first teaching units. The application increases the understanding of the human body and conveys the lesson content on a completely different level, no longer just using a dusty model. For example, you can walk around the organ or skeleton, grasp organs and look inside, enlarge anatomical structures, view pathological changes or simulate blood flow. Corresponding small information texts are displayed. All in all, a huge added value for teaching."

Four VR glasses are available for use, which allow the animation to be experienced in 3D and mixed reality, as well as licenses for smartphones, on which the system does not run in 3D, but also with augmented reality.
