Traveling exhibition - Special Olympics World Games 2023

Traveling exhibition of gifts from the athletes of the Cape Verdean islands

Hof was one of over 200 host towns for the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023. The numerous guest gifts from the Cape Verdean islands can be seen from April to September as part of a traveling exhibition in the city of Hof.

216 municipalities from all German states were selected as host towns for the participants of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 (SOWG) to look after the delegations of athletes from all over the world before the World Games from June 12 to 15, 2023. The city of Hof was able to prepare for the stay of the athletes from the Cape Verde islands.

A varied program was put together with a network of dedicated helpers from Lebenshilfe Hof, the Faltbootclub Hof, a P-Seminar at Johann-Christian-Reinhart-Gymnasium and the city of Hof. Furthermore, a number of activities were held in the run-up to the Special Olympics to raise awareness of the topic of "inclusion".

Unfortunately, the delegation's stay in Hof was canceled shortly before the World Games. A meeting between a delegation from Lebenshilfe Hof, who were working as volunteers at the World Games, and the delegation from the Cape Verdean islands was organized on site. This allowed the athletes to get to know each other and exchange ideas. On this occasion, the guest gifts from Cape Verde, which are now on display, were also presented.

The small exhibition will be on display at the following locations:

  • April - June 24: Johann-Christian-Reinhart-Gymnasium, Max-Reger-Str. 71
  • July - August 24: Tourist Information, Ludwigstr. 24
  • from September 24: Hochfränkische Werkstätten, Südring 100
