Topics of the 54th Hof City Council meeting
Update of the city center concept (ISEK)
The Hof city council has unanimously decided to continue the "Center concept for retail and stores in the city of Hof" as an urban development concept. Mayor Eva Döhla: "At 90 pages, the concept is very comprehensive and helps us to align the retail sector in our city. After all, this concept is an important prerequisite for us to receive funding from the Free State." The aim of the center concept is to enable orderly, sustainable retail development that is compatible with urban development. The concept from 2011 was adapted to meet current requirements. The update now takes into account the demographic changes in Hof and the need for a barrier-free basic supply close to home. It enables the city of Hof to further raise its profile as a business and supply location and to react flexibly to new challenges. It therefore serves as a decision-making basis for future planning and the submission of funding applications.
Security report 2023 published
The Hof police inspectorate has published the 2023 security report, which provides a comprehensive evaluation of the crime situation in the city of Hof. Compared to the previous year, there has been a 9.1% increase in crimes, which corresponds to 335 additional cases. Despite this increase, the crime clearance rate remains at a high level of 71.4%, albeit slightly lower than in 2022. The Hof police inspectorate continues to focus on preventative measures and dialog with the population. Initiatives such as the citizen dialog "Kaffee mit'n Schutzmo" ("Coffee with a protection mo") enable low-threshold contact with the police, which builds trust and lowers the inhibition threshold for seeking police support.
New construction of the retirement home at Unteres Tor 1
The Hof Hospital Foundation has been planning for many years to demolish the "Unteres Tor 1" building and build a new small senior citizens' residential complex on the same site. With the decision of the foundation committee on March 1, 2023, the foundation administration was commissioned to implement this project. We are particularly pleased that the Käte Feldmer Foundation Hof has once again increased its share of the grant, which will offset the expected cost increases for the overall project. A total of six residential units with a total living space of 258 m² will be built. The tendered construction project includes the shell of the new building. The Hof city council approved the city administration's proposed resolution to award the contract for the master builder work at Unteres Tor 1 to Karl Roth GmbH & Co KG, Wunsiedel. With this new building project, the Hof Hospital Foundation is taking another important step towards improving the range of housing on offer for senior citizens in Hof and contributing to sustainable urban development.
