The Starosta couple celebrates 70 years of marriage
Christel and Helmut Starosta are celebrating a special anniversary: their platinum wedding, also known as the marriage of grace. 70 years of marriage is an extraordinary milestone that testifies to a deep bond and shared strength. Mayor Angela Bier congratulated the couple and conveyed the congratulations of the city of Hof.
Helmut Starosta currently lives in the AWO retirement home. His wife and two daughters visit him regularly, giving him a lot of joy and closeness. The close bond within the family can still be felt today and has always been a central value in the couple's lives.
Their shared history began when they were young: both families moved into the same house in Marienburg (West Prussia), around 30 kilometers from Gdansk. Christel and Helmut spent a lot of time together as teenagers until the turmoil of war and flight separated them.
At Christmas 1953, Christel's family visited the Starostas in Regensburg and there was an immediate "spark". Two years later, in 1955, they married and made a new home in Hof.
Helmut Starosta was a lifelong sports enthusiast - with an impressive 95 sports badges to his name, he is a true role model in terms of endurance and discipline. He was also passionate about equestrian sports.
Christel Starosta, on the other hand, enjoys literature and culture. Going to the theater and reading interesting books are still her hobby today. Big trips were not the Starostas' thing: they preferred smaller excursions in the surrounding area, because "there's no place like home".
