The Schlappenbier 2024 is brewed

Only 80 days to go until the 592nd Hofer Schlappentag. The Scherdel brewers have already brewed the Schlappenbier.

The Scherdel brewery announces:

"Good news for all Schlappenbier lovers: the special brew for the Schlappenbier vintage 2024 has been prepared," says Kurt Unverdorben, authorized signatory of the Scherdel brewery. "Our Scherdel master brewers have once again done a great job. After fermentation and storage, the first keg can be tapped just in time for Schlappentag on May 27," says Unverdorben.

A beer with a strong character

The amber-colored Scherdel Schlappenbier impresses with its fine-pored, velvety head and its strong, well-rounded taste. Characteristic of this bock beer is the balance between fine, not too sweet and not too strong malt aromas on the one hand, and a very subtle hint of hops in the aftertaste on the other. The Schlappenbier has to mature for a long time to achieve its usual quality.

No "Hofer National Holiday" without Schlappenbier

The Schlappenbier is only filled freshly into barrels and bottles shortly before the Schlappen Day. With an original gravity of 16.3 percent and an alcohol content of 6.5 percent by volume, the quaffable Schlappenbier is an unforgettable experience. This is not only appreciated by Schlappentag fans. The jury of the German Agricultural Society (DLG) also confirmed the excellent quality of Scherdel Schlappenbier in its test. The strictly limited strong beer was awarded the DLG gold medal for the tenth time.

"We are delighted that our Schlappenbier has once again been awarded gold in the international DLG beer test. We are particularly proud that it is also part of the Finest Beer Selection and also received the award for best bock beer in the international quality competition European Beer Star," explains Sascha Greßmann, Head Brewmaster at the Scherdel brewery.

The Schlappenbier is strictly limited. Only a limited quantity of this beer rarity is brewed. Traditionally, it can only be tapped and delivered in the early morning of Schlappen Day. Schlappenbier is only available while stocks last. This underlines the unique character of this strong beer.

Enjoy in comfort at the beer garden festival

The Schlappentag events begin on Saturday, May 25, with the beer garden festival. From late afternoon, the motto in the beer garden on the festival grounds at the Schießhäuschen is "enjoy in comfort". The DLG gold award-winning Scherdel beer specialties will be served with traditional music and Franconian delicacies.

Ha Ha Huss Huss! Help us - the Hussites are coming!

Citizens' slipper shooting for everyone

Schlappentag - the national holiday in Hof

The festivities for the actual Hofer Schlappentag begin on Monday, May 27, with an early morning musical wake-up call. Craftsmen and marksmen meet at the shooting house and march to the town hall. The new Schlappenkönig is proclaimed at the reception there. Afterwards, there is a festive procession to the festival site at the shooting house. With a fresh pint of Schlappenbier from the clay mug and Hof bratwurst sausages, the relaxed part of Schlappentag begins.
