Temporary parking restrictions in Ludwigstraße
At its most recent meeting, the holiday committee decided on temporary parking restrictions in Ludwigstraße from 5 September 2025. The background to this is the current construction sites at Sigmundsgraben and Unteres Tor, which are causing traffic restrictions. Businesses in Ludwigstraße have reported significant losses in turnover as a result of the changed traffic situation at the regular "city centre round table" - an exchange between traders and business development.
The city council takes these concerns very seriously: a vibrant city centre depends on a strong retail community. This measure is intended to provide targeted support and increase customer frequency in Ludwigstraße again.
The so-called bun button will be extended at the six parking ticket machines in Ludwigstraße and at another machine in Poststraße: Instead of 10 minutes as before, drivers will be able to park for 60 minutes free of charge. The regular charges will apply for longer parking times. The 60-minute limit is intended to ensure the necessary fluctuation in public car parks. The parking concessions will apply from 5 September 2025 until 31 December 2025.
For reasons of cost and time, the seven parking ticket machines will not be extensively reprogrammed. Instead, the extended free parking period will be taken into account by the monitoring services. Stickers on the machines will also provide information about this regulation. In the case of EasyPark, the duration can be planned accordingly by the operator.
A concrete estimate of the financial impact is not yet possible. In the period from August 2024 to July 2025, parking revenue in Ludwigstraße totalled 182,907 euros (145,565 euros via ticket machines, 37,342 euros via EasyPark).
