Symposium on child development and digitalization

The joint symposium of the KoKi - Early Childhood Networks of the city and district of Hof took place recently on the topic of child development and digitalization.

Under the title #SMARTSTART, the joint symposium of the KoKi - Early Childhood Networks of the city and district of Hof and the state-approved advice center for pregnancy issues of the Hof health department took place these days. Around 80 specialist guests took part, including staff from doctors' surgeries and clinics, youth welfare offices, daycare centers, pregnancy advice centers, childminders and other specialist areas.

The focus was on child development in times of digitalization. Questions such as: What is central to the healthy development of attachment and independence in the digitalized world? How much do babies and toddlers compete for their parents' attention with digital media? How do even the youngest children use media and with what effects? How can smartphones be sensibly and realistically integrated into family life?

Speaker Tina Barthelme from the State Institute for Early Childhood Education and Media Competence (ifp) came to the conference at the Einstein 1 start-up center in Hof. On the one hand, she spoke about the effects of media use on the interaction and sensitivity of caregivers and gave suggestions for everyday family life. On the other hand, she addressed the use of smartphones by children themselves. These topics were then the subject of lively discussion.

At a so-called "market of opportunities" organized by the advice centre for pregnancy issues, challenges were also discussed together and solutions to the topic were developed.
