Closure of Sigmundsgraben

In the course of the current closure of Sigmundsgraben, the city of Hof would like to point out once again that the road area Klostertor, Theaterstraße and Klosterstraße is only open to residents with a legitimate interest in order to ensure a bypass for emergency services. Despite repeated reminders, the situation has not yet improved noticeably. As soon as there are tailbacks in this area, the traffic authority is forced to intervene - especially in view of the imminent school traffic. Under no circumstances should the traffic density increase to such an extent that pupils are endangered on their way to school or the passage of emergency services is obstructed.

If the situation does not ease, structural measures will have to be implemented: from a speed reduction through speed bumps to a closure at one of the two entrances. However, these steps would be very drastic and would also have a noticeable impact on the retail trade in the city centre and local residents. The city of Hof is therefore endeavouring to avoid these measures and is relying on the understanding and consideration of all road users.

The traffic authority is continuing to monitor the situation together with the police and will continuously assess whether further steps are necessary.
