Sewer replacement Ascher Straße

The construction work to replace the sewer in Ascher Str. is expected to begin on 8 September 2025. The work will be carried out in three sections and will extend from the property at Ascher Straße 10 to the level of the sports field at Hüttenwerksteg and will last until the end of June 2026.

The existing sewer is considerably overloaded hydraulically and shows structural damage of damage class 1, which means that immediate action is required, taking into account the legal requirements to be complied with. Uncontrolled seepage of wastewater into the surrounding soil and groundwater cannot be ruled out.

During this time, the Ascher Straße will remain closed to through traffic for a maximum length of approx. 120 metres in each section. The Saale cycle path will remain usable during the entire construction period.

A diversion will be set up from Döhlau via Wartturmweg, Neutauperlitzer Weg, Oelsnitzer Straße, Leimitzer Straße to Pestalozziplatz. The diversion from Pestalozziplatz in the direction of Döhlau is via Oelsnitzer Straße, Neutauperlitzer Weg, Wartturmweg to Ascher Straße in the opposite direction.

1st construction phase

In the first section, a water pipe will be relocated over a length of approx. 140 metres in the area of the Hof outdoor pool. During this work, the outdoor pool and the affected businesses can only be reached via the Pestalozziplatz junction. Residents of Hüttenwerkweg can only reach their properties via the signposted diversion.

Completion of the work for the 1st section is planned by 17 October 2025.

2nd construction phase

The 2nd section begins approximately at the level of the property at Ascher Str. 10 and extends to the level of the outdoor pool kiosk. Access to the outdoor pool car park will be maintained, except for temporary restrictions. Access to the commercial premises will also remain largely possible here, but obstructions are still to be expected. The car parks along house numbers 10 to 18 cannot be used during this construction phase.

Planned construction period from 18.10.2025 to 31.12.2025.

3rd construction phase

Weather permitting, the 3rd section is scheduled from January 2026 to the end of June 2026. During this period, the sewer will be laid from the outdoor pool kiosk to approximately the level of the sports field near Hüttenwerkweg. The car parks located in this section will not be available during this time. Access roads to businesses and the outdoor pool car park will not be affected.

The City of Hof is aware that this construction work and the associated diversion will cause considerable inconvenience for the residents and road users affected. However, the construction work cannot be postponed, as the City of Hof has a legal obligation to rectify the damage immediately in order to avoid danger and for environmental protection reasons, and the timeframe is therefore unavoidable.
