Progress of the renovation work on the Theresienstein
In the wake of the news about Bärbel Scherdel's management of the restaurant at the Theresienstein from Monday to Saturday from 3 p.m., there is news about the status of the renovation work. The planned work is the fourth and final construction phase of the façade renovation. The following measures are planned in this construction phase:
- Facade renovation of the music pavilion (from August) and the rear of the main building: strengthening of the timber framework, replacement of the windows, painting of the facade
- Refurbishment of the roofs of the rear flat roof extensions
- Renewal of the roof covering of the music pavilion, the rear and the gable above the former dance café in the main building
- Renovation of the natural stone plinth of the entire building and all external staircases, as well as the natural stone balustrade of the terrace
The promenade concerts will only take place until the end of July, as the music pavilion is to be scaffolded in August. A number of inspections need to be carried out here in order to assess the structural condition of the building. The entire wooden structure, including the clad roof structure, will be examined and, if necessary, upgraded. The pavilion will then be given a new roof covering and a new coat of paint. The pavilion should be fully renovated by spring next year, i.e. by the time of the 2025 Promenade Concerts. Should unforeseen work be necessary, the work may take even longer.
