New life in the Altstadt 1 building

Woolworth shop opens in the historic city centre

The new Woolworth shop in Hof's old town centre was opened with the symbolic cutting of the "now open" ribbon. On Thursday morning, 17 July 2025, Mayor Eva Döhla joined store manager Iris Wunsch in cutting the ribbon.

The former branch in Lorenzstraße was closed in mid-June. Since the beginning of July, the new shop at Altstadt 1 has been set up and stocked with goods. Eleven employees, centred around the store manager, work in the new premises. The new Woolworth shop is one of the largest in the group. The department stores' group operates over 400 branches nationwide.

In addition to numerous customers who were eagerly awaiting the opening, Walter Friedl from our business development department, expansion manager Ute Hofmann, new store manager Mandy Tenbergen and district manager Mario Kraft-Winkler from Woolworth GmbH were also on site.

In the Woolworth shop, customers can look forward to promotional and household goods, decorative items and bedding on the ground floor. Clothing textiles, shoes, school supplies, stationery, handicrafts and toys as well as rucksacks and bags can be found in the basement.
