New youth centre for the volunteer fire brigade

Lions Club donates 15,000 euros

The Hof volunteer fire brigade is delighted: thanks to a generous donation from the Hof Lions Club, the new children's and youth room at Hallplatz has been completed. Mayor Eva Döhla, together with city fire chief Markus Ott, thanked the representatives of the Lions Club.

Eva Döhla: "With the donation from the Lions Club, a long-standing wish has become a reality. The new youth centre is a wonderful investment in the future of our fire brigade. The best thing is when the next generation gets involved and joins the fire brigade. Something great has been achieved here - bright, friendly and with a lot of respect for the task."
The support of 15,000 euros was a decisive contribution to covering the total costs of almost 30,000 euros for the renovation and refurbishment. The room was given a new floor, a new ceiling, fresh colours, renewed electrical installations, modern furniture and up-to-date technical equipment.

The youth group of the Hof fire brigade has been in existence since 1989. With the new room, the young firefighters now have a modern meeting place to learn, exchange ideas and experience community. The old room was getting on in years and was in urgent need of renovation.

Commander Markus Ott: "This would not have been possible without the efforts of many helpers - from the city, from our own firefighters and from experts from the trades. The room is a place for training, games evenings and for the community. And it sends out a strong signal: investing in young people is investing in the future of our fire service. Special thanks go to the Lions Club, in particular Dr Harald Fichtner, who personally supported the project."
The Hof youth fire brigade has been in existence since 1989 and is an important pillar of our work with young people. Here, young people are not only trained professionally, but also learn team spirit, responsibility and mutual respect.

Anyone who would like to see for themselves will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday, 27 September 2025: From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Hof fire brigade is hosting an open day at Hallplatz. In addition to the presentation of the new youth centre, there will be demonstrations of the emergency vehicles, fire drills and lots of insights into the work of the fire brigade. All interested parties are cordially invited.
