Nationwide warning day on March 13, 2025
On Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., the state-wide warning day will once again take place in Bavaria. On this day, the existing warning systems for civil protection will be tested and their functionality checked in the event of an emergency.
In the city of Hof, the test alerting is carried out via the Modular Warning System (MoWaS). In concrete terms, this means that the warning message is distributed via various warning apps, such as NINA or KatWarn, as well as via the cell broadcast system. The cell broadcast system automatically sends messages to all cell phones located in the affected region.
All citizens who have installed one of the warning apps mentioned will automatically receive a test message at exactly 11:00 am. In addition, the test alert will be sent to cell phones in Hof via the so-called cell broadcast method, without the need for an app.
Sirens are currently not used in Hof. The four sirens still in use in the districts of Eppenreuth, Haidt, Leimitz and Eichelberg are currently only intended for fire alarms. In the future, however, there are plans to make these sirens available for civil protection as well.
