Municipal buildings flagged at the weekend

Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Flight and Expulsion and Day of the Franks

The City of Hof would like to point out that on Saturday, 5 July 2025, and Sunday, 6 July 2025, flags will be flown on municipal buildings to mark two regional and Bavarian memorial and public holidays.

1. commemoration of victims of flight and expulsion

On Saturday, 5 July 2025, the "Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Flight and Expulsion" will take place throughout Bavaria. The Bavarian Minister President has ordered all state buildings in Bavaria to fly flags. This is to commemorate the suffering of displaced persons, ethnic German repatriates and ethnic German resettlers and to honour their integration in Bavaria.

2nd Day of the Franks

On Sunday, 6 July 2025, the whole of Franconia celebrates its traditional "Day of the Franks". The holiday dates back to 2 July 1500, when the first official demarcation of the Franconian region took place at the Imperial Diet in Augsburg with the division of the imperial districts.
