Leu Energie donates 20,000 euros for children and young people in Hof
Generous donation for children and youth work in the city of Hof
As company owner Sebastian Leu informed Mayor Eva Döhla shortly before Christmas, the total amount raised is an impressive 20,000 euros. "We owe half of the sum to our business partners, customers and guests who donated to mark our company anniversary," explains Sebastian Leu. "The other half was topped up by our company to make this important support possible."
The donation is intended to support projects and assistance for children and young people in Hof that would otherwise be difficult to finance. One focus is on district projects that offer young people the opportunity to have an active say and help shape their home town. "In this way, young people can experience how participation and democracy work - an important basis for identifying with Hof and for their personal development," says Mayor Eva Döhla.
Another focus is on combating child poverty. Among other things, the donation will be used for the City of Hof's Kids Card, which gives children from financially disadvantaged families access to leisure activities. "We want every child to have the same opportunities to participate in social life, regardless of their parents' financial means," adds Thiemo Tratzmüller, Head of the Youth and Social Affairs Department of the City of Hof.
The news of the donation reached the town hall like an early Christmas present. "The Leu company impressively demonstrates how entrepreneurial success, social commitment and sustainability can go hand in hand. We are very grateful for this," emphasized Eva Döhla.
Award for sustainability in the anniversary year
The fundraising campaign is just one part of Leu's commitment. Back in July, the company and BTD GmbH received an award from the Bavarian state government for their sustainable business practices as part of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact. For years, Leu Energie has been focusing on resource-saving measures such as switching to LED lighting, using the environmentally friendly fuel HVO 100 and installing a photovoltaic system at the Hof site.
