JPG Hof honored again for audio guide project

The P-Seminar "Stadt.Land.Museum" of the Jean-Paul-Gymnasium receives the third award for its project with the Museum Bayerisches Vogtland.

At the end of February, the P-Seminar "Stadt.Land.Museum" from Jean-Paul-Gymnasium Hof was awarded second prize in the group work category by the Nordoberfränkischer Verein für Natur-, Geschichts- und Landeskunde e.V. (North Upper Franconian Association for Nature, History and Regional Studies). This award, which is endowed with 300 euros, is already the third award for the dedicated project team.

The award-winning project was developed in close cooperation with the Museum Bayerisches Vogtland and the radio station extra-radio. The aim was to develop a bilingual audio guide in German and English that would give visitors to the museum a new approach to the exhibitions. The pupils selected 20 objects from the city history, natural history and "Refugees and displaced persons" departments and created informative contributions.

The audio guide can be downloaded to smartphones free of charge via an app and therefore also offers international guests added value. The objects presented include porcelain exhibits, minerals and a bed from the former refugee camp in Moschendorf. The personal touch of the contributions conveys history in a lively way.

The renewed award underlines the successful cooperation between the school, museum and media partners. It shows how innovative projects can get young people interested in culture and history. The audio guide was sponsored by the Rotary Club Hof-Bayern and the Bavarian State Agency for New Media.
